Marc Marcel’s 22nd album, the follow-up to his GRAMMY®-nominated Black Shaman, and the first spoken word album ever turned into a full-length film.
“Come take a journey with me.”
In 2026, I earned a GRAMMY® nomination for Black Shaman, in the Best Spoken Word Poetry category. This is the follow-up to that album, Black Shaman Strikes Back, and it’s being listened to 300 years into the future.
The album follows StaJe, who is on a mission to listen to the album Black Shaman Strikes Back. My 22nd album carries the same production ingredients as my prior albums, cinematic, but this year, I took the leap forward and brought visuals to the production. I turned a spoken word poetry album into a full-length feature film. This isn’t just an album with a movie attached to it — the album is the score and soundtrack to the film itself, built as one single work from the ground up.
This is the most complete artistic expression I’ve ever put into a single body of work.
I set out to show what spoken word can be — not confined to one sound, one mood, one register. So alongside the ambient, new-age production that shaped Black Shaman, this album moves through hip hop, EDM, and classical arrangements, all built to serve the poetry rather than decorate it.
The original goal was simple: expand what spoken word is allowed to be. I didn’t know yet that the expansion wouldn’t stop at sound — that it would eventually demand a film to hold it.
