Poetry is the tool. Not the gift.
Born in Baltimore and diagnosed with dyslexia at ten, Marc Marcel became one of the most consciously aware spoken word artists of his generation.
He has carried his blend of spoken word and metaphysical insight to 150 U.S. cities and eight countries, more than 50 universities including Harvard and Yale, U.S. troops at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, and the Smithsonian for the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Peace Ball.
His life reads like his poems: jailed on Christmas in Mexico for trespassing at the Tulum ruins during the 2012 winter solstice; surviving a commercial flight when an engine exploded mid-air. Each moment is woven into the work — eight books, twenty-two albums, the animated philosophy series Gurus, and now a feature film, Black Shaman Strikes Back.
Off the stage, Marc co-founded Cosmidelic Productions with Brian Flaccus and founded The Cosmidelic Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
